More Than Just the Village Idiot | Written By: Daniel Albert
More Than Just the Village Idiot
Idiot is a negative term that gets thrown around a lot. But whether you're being called an idiot or a substitute term, one thing is for certain—it’s not a compliment. Sure you may be able to count cards at the casino, but when someone calls you Rain man it isn't exactly high praise and when your friends tell you the village is calling looking for their missing idiot you best believe they're having a chuckle at your expense. But there is one instance where the word idiot could come up in conversation and it isn't automatically negative and that's in regards to Green Day's groundbreaking musical American Idiot.

All the Way to the Bank
It's been said many times that a picture is worth 1,000 words. At an average of 40 cents per word (the lower end of an average wage for writers) it's no wonder that Hollywood blockbusters cost millions (filmed at 24 frames per second at an average of 7,740 seconds per film we get 185,760 frames multiplied by 1,000 words per frame gets us 185,760,000 words at a rate of 40 cents for a grand total of $74,304,000phew that's a lot of math). But what is a musical worth? In the case of the Segerstrom Centers newest production, it's worth its weight in gold.

More Music More Art More People x 2: Coachella Preview 2012
The exact same lineup will be performing on the very same stages for the second weekend as they did the first. It will be a deja  vu experience for the performers, but the audience will get fresh acts. Though it is unlikely that too many people will want to subject themselves to Coachella for 6 days with the same performers, it is possible that one could, hypothetically, go to the Indio Polo Fields twice in two weeks and see completely different rock and DJ shows.

Dancing to a Different Tune | Written By: Dan Albert
Dancing to a Different Tune
Dancing is one of the oldest and truest art forms. A dance can be infectious, something that grabs hold of us and inexplicably moves our limbs around. It can be planned and practiced, every movement carefully calculated to provoke an emotion from those watching it. Most of all, dance can be a true connection to the soul and an unbiased interpretation of how a piece of music can make us feel.

Without a Trace
Many of us have fond memories of the circus. Whether it be the nostalgia of the classic Ringling Brothers or the style and wonder of the contemporary Cirque de Soleil, the circus has touched most of us in some way. However, how often does one get to see one of these amazing shows? With limited dates and high priced tickets, an alternative circus experience is appealing such as a visit to places like Venice Beach, where street performers give us similar thrills with little to no cost on a daily basis. There's now also a third option which bridges the gap between these two circus experiences.
